Editorial policy

The Cove Ledger publishes one kind of page: an entry that answers a single question about Halibut Cove and the water around it. This page states the rules the desk writes by.

Sources

Every entry names the sources it read. The published tide and current tables, the marine forecasts, the state park and wildlife publications, the charts and the public records come first. A source that cannot be checked against a fixed text, such as a comment thread or a promotional page, is not used to settle a question. Where two sources disagree, the entry says so and gives both.

Dates

Every entry carries the date it was last checked. When a table, a season or a chart changes, the entry is revised and the date moves. The date orders the home page, dates the line in the sitemap and dates the item in the feed, so a reader can always see how old an answer is.

Naming

Lodges, boats, restaurants, galleries, agencies and people are named in the third person. No business named in an entry publishes this site, none of them is a partner, and none of them has any editorial influence. The desk does not rank lodges or operators, does not compare them by preference and does not accept payment for a mention.

What is not published

The desk does not publish advertising, sponsored entries, affiliate links or prices presented as offers. It does not publish instructions that put a reader in danger on the water, and it does not present a forecast, a tide or a wildlife encounter as something to improvise around. It does not claim to be, or to represent, any business that may have used this domain name before 2026.

Corrections

A correction is published by rewriting the sentence and moving the checked-on date, as described on the contact page. Nothing is deleted quietly.
